This course is an introduction to our beloved profession!
Everything you need to succesfully complete the course is right here.
Just so you know, Introduction to Education is a foundations class in this credential program. A typical Introduction to Education course is based on four pillars of our profession - the history, philosophy, psychology, and sociology of education.
I’ve added a fifth pillar, which is the Teaching Foundations that you’ll do first, as a way to introduce you to the importance of lesson planning. You will see in your other Phase 1 courses that faculty across Phase 1 have planned together to give you an introduction to lesson planning and then as you go to each course this semester, every professor will build upon what you learn here in TED 400 to help you become more and more nuanced in the science and art of lesson planning. We are deliberate in preparing you to do well in this area!
