Art. Moving. Beautiful. Aesthetic.
Art. Academic. Rigorous. Transferable Academic Skills.
This week’s lesson is on art-with-the-brain-in-mind. Art is not just window-dressing. Not for educators. Instead, we know that art is an important and rigorously demanding academic content area. And it supports all other content areas as well.
Check out our daughter’s art career: Helena and the Arts.
Here is the thing. We just love the arts. All kinds of arts.
But there is another layer to it now. We understand that an immersive experience in the arts strengthens Helena’s academic skills. We have kind of ended up more immersed in the arts in our family because of that.
We’re also aware that schools cut the arts a lot, too, and that classroom teachers can strategically utilize the academic rigor of art in many ways to increase the academic skills of all students.
There is so much to learn and explore about the arts this week.
